In Katrīna Biksone’s works, the inner world of a person is revealed through restrained forms, quiet spaces and precise visual accents. Her painting often carries a tension between closeness and distance – the desire to be seen, and at the same time the need to protect oneself.
The artist works with minimal but carefully considered means. Colour, form and space in her works do not create a loud statement, but rather an atmosphere in which the viewer can sense everyday reactions, habits and mechanisms of self-protection. This restraint allows what is essential to appear – presence, vulnerability and an inner rhythm.
In Biksone’s practice, painting often expands into space, approaching installation. This allows the work to become not only an image, but also an experience – an environment in which the viewer becomes part of a quiet, yet intense conversation.
