In Alise Builevica’s painting nature becomes a living, changing space, where colour carries both the atmosphere of the outer world and an inner emotional tension. The sea, forest, wind and light in her works are not merely elements of landscape – they transform into forces of feeling, where human presence is fragile, yet at the same time highly intense.
In Builevica’s paintings colour speaks directly and openly. Bright tones, contrasts and saturated fields create a world that feels intensified – closer to sensation than to calm observation. This openness to colour, nature and experience reveals an ability to be present, to accept the unpredictable and to allow the viewer to enter the work with their own experience.
Alise Builevica is a painter and graduate of the Painting Department at the Art Academy of Latvia. In 2022 she received the SEB Grant in Painting. The artist has participated in exhibitions in Latvia, including solo exhibitions “All Most”, “Atrasties”, “Wanderer”.
