City Jelgava transport card

The Jelgava resident’s card is a contactless card that you can use to pay for your travel by Jelgava public buses at a special (lower) price. You can use this card to pay only for your ticket on public buses and for meals at school canteens. It is linked to the current account from which the costs of your travel or meal is covered.

To apply for a Jelgava resident’s card:

  • You can apply for the card at the SEB branch in Jelgava (Akadēmijas iela 3) or at SEB Rīdzene branch in Riga (Vaļņu iela 11).
  • At the branch, you will be required to present your passport or ID card as well as fill in an application form for receiving the Jelgava resident’s card./li>
  • No photo is required for making the card.
  • The card will be made within five working days, and you can choose to receive it at Jelgava branch or Rīdzene branch.

The card is linked to an existing account with SEB, opening of an account is also possible free of charge.

To apply for a Jelgava senior’s card:

  1. Fill in an application form for the card (subsidy) and have you picture taken at Jelgava Social Affairs Administration (Pulkveža Oskara Kalpaka iela 9), and wait for approval.
  2. Visit the SEB Jelgava branch, taking along your ID document, and fill in the application for receiving the Jelgava senior’s card.
  3. The card will be made within five working days, and you can choose to receive it at Jelgava branch or Rīdzene branch.

The card is linked to an existing account with SEB, opening of an account is also possible free of charge.

If you have already been using the Jelgava public transport card, applying for a new card is not necessary; you can keep using the existing card as before.

To apply for a Jelgava school student’s card:

  1. Fill in an application form for the card, have your picture taken at your school's administration, and wait for approval.
  2. Together with your parent or custodian visit the Jelgava branch taking along your ID documents and fill in an application form for receiving the Jelgava school student’s certificate.
  3. The card will be made within five working days, and you can choose to receive it either at Jelgava branch or Rīdzene branch.
  4. The card is linked to an existing account with SEB, alternatively opening of an account is possible free of charge.

If a school student has already been using the Jelgava school student’s electronic card, applying for a new card is not necessary. The school student may continue to use the existing card as before. The only thing to keep in mind - make sure that you have paid the e-card usage fee before the new school year starts. The issuance fee is covered by the Jelgava bus park, whereas the monthly fee of 0.15 EUR will need to be paid by the customer.

Card issuance and Price List

  • You can choose to receive the card by post (for internet bank users) or at Jelgava branch or at Ridzene branch.
  • The monthly usage fee for the Jelgava card is 0.15 EUR.
  • The lost, damaged, etc. card replacement fee is 2.85 EUR.
  • The daily transaction limit on the Jelgava public transport is set at 6 EUR.
  • The fee for a single trip on a city bus with the card is 0.85 EUR; or 1.50 EUR if paying in cash.
  • The limit for accepting the school student E-card at other places (school canteens) is set at 10 EUR.
