1. Submit claims application for the insured event

Something unexpected happened? Submit the claims application online in just a couple of minutes.

If you are unable to fill in the indemnity application online and need to do it in person, you can submit a claim at any SEB branch office.

2. Submit documents proving the event

Submit the following medical and other documents to prove the event:

Case of death

  • Death certificate
  • A document confirming the cause of death, i.e. a document issued by a medical institution indicating the cause of death or a statement from the Registry Office about the cause of death
  • Other documents related to the insured event, if available (e.g. investigation documents, judicial documents, extracts from an outpatient and/or hospital patient's medical card)

Instant life insurance benefit

  • Death certificate

Critical illness

  • A document issued by a medical institution stating the full diagnosis, the date of the diagnosis, the treatment used, and the the medical history
  • Results of tests confirming the diagnosis
  • Extract from the hospital

Total and permanent disability

  • Decision of The State Medical Commission for the Assessment of Health Condition and Working Ability for the determination of invalidity and incapacity to work
  • A document issued by a medical institution stating the full diagnosis, the date of the diagnosis, the treatment used, and the medical history
  • Other documents related to the insured event, if available (e.g. investigation documents, judicial documents)

Permanent trauma

  • A document issued by a medical institution confirming the accident and stating the diagnosis, the treatment used, and the course of treatment
  • Results of tests confirming the diagnosis
  • Extract from the hospital
  • Other documents related to the insured event, if available (e.g. investigation documents, judicial documents)

Light trauma

  • A document issued by a medical institution confirming the accident and stating the diagnosis, the treatment used, and the course of treatment
  • Results of tests confirming the diagnosis
  • An extract from the hospital (if hospital treatment was needed)
  • Other documents related to the insured event, if available (e.g. investigation documents, judicial documents)

Accidental daily allowance

  • A certificate of incapacity for work issued by a medical institution in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia (an equivalent document to the certificate of incapacity for work for non-Latvian workers). You can receive an incapacity note in the e-health system by logging into the portal www.eveseliba.gov.lv.
  • A document issued by a medical institution confirming the accident and stating the diagnosis, the treatment used, and the course of treatment
  • Results of tests confirming the diagnosis
  • An extract from the hospital (if hospital treatment was needed)
  • Other documents related to the insured event, if available (e.g. investigation documents, judicial documents)

Disability as a result of an accident

  • Decision of The State Medical Commission for the Assessment of Health Condition and Working Ability for the determination of invalidity and incapacity to work.
  • A document issued by a medical institution confirming the accident and stating the diagnosis, the treatment used, the course of treatment.
  • An extract from the hospital (if hospital treatment was needed)
  • Other documents related to the insured event, if available (e.g. investigation documents, judicial documents)

Temporary disability (if the insured has loan payment insurance)

  • The certificate of incapacity for work issued by a medical institution in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia (an equivalent document to the certificate of incapacity for work for non-Latvian employees). You can receive an incapacity note in the e-health system by logging into the portal www.eveseliba.gov.lv.
  • A document issued by a medical institution stating the full diagnosis, the date of the diagnosis, the treatment used, and the medical history
  • Results of tests confirming the diagnosis
  • An extract from the hospital (if hospital treatment was needed)
  • Other documents related to the insured event, if available (e.g. investigation documents, judicial documents)

Lasting incapacity for work (if the insured has loan payment insurance)

  • A document issued by a medical institution stating the full diagnosis, the date of the diagnosis, the treatment used, and the medical history.
  • Results of tests confirming the diagnosis
  • An extract from the hospital (if hospital treatment was needed)

Involuntary unemployment (if the insured has loan payment insurance)

  • A statement from the State Employment Agency on the granting of unemployment status
  • A statement from the State Social Insurance Agency regarding the granting of unemployment benefit
  • A statement issued by the State Social Insurance Agency regarding the compulsory social insurance contributions paid for the last 6 months before the date of termination of the employment relationship
  • A document indicating the reason behind terminating the employment relationship
  • The employment contract 
  • Documents for the continuing of unemployment
  • In order to receive each subsequent indemnity, if the involuntary unemployment continues, you must submit a statement from the State Employment Agency regarding the status of the unemployed

Send in your documents safely

If you want to encrypt the documents certifying the insured event, you will receive instructions on how to do so after you submit the form.
If you don't want to encrypt the documents, you can send the documents to atlidzibas@seb.lv
 

3. Receive an insurance benefit

After we receive your documents, we will get to work on your claim application as soon as we can. On average, it takes us 2 working days to make a decision. In more complex cases, it could take up to 30 days.
