Safe purchases on the Internet and by phone
- Before sending away financial information (e.g. card number, validity period, CVV2) on a website, check in the address bar that the shop's address (URL) is correct:
- for example, the correct PayPal address is https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr;
- whereas the following is not a PayPal address: https://21.84.271.2/www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
-
Never disclose any information that does not relate to the transaction. (Remember that your card's PIN code and password is intended for the use by you only);
-
Making purchases, prefer merchants that support the 3D Secure System, a system certified by VISA and MasterCard, and large and wide-known merchants with good reputation;
-
Always enter the address (URL) of the internet shop in the address bar; do not click on links in e-mails or websites;
-
The address (URL) must always begin with 'https' (ending with an "s").
-
At the lower right corner of the screen there is a key symbol; click on it to see whether the cooperation partner is the one it claims to be.
-
If you are not sure about any information provided by the Internet shop, call the shop by phone;
-
If you have entered and sent away your financial data but are unsure of the safety of the transaction - contact the bank;
