SEPA (Single euro payment area) is the project within the single infrastructure and common terms for payment services in Europe have been implemented. Implementation of Single Euro Payments Area is based on political goal to strengthen the internal market of Europe.
SEPA implementation ensures simple, safe and effective euro payments throughout Europe – both within the country, as well as outside the borders of the country. SEPA includes all 27 EU countries, as well as Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Monaco.

SEB banka is the only bank in Latvia that, starting from 1 November 2009, offers a new type of settlement service – SEPA Direct Debit.
The service is available both to the bank's private persons, as well as legal entities and is meant for ensuring regular payment of invoices in Europe in euro currency. In the same way, it can also be a single payment.

Service Scheme
- SEB banka's Client signs an agreement with a Company in Europe* on SEPA Direct Debit about a given service.
- The Client completes the application in SEB banka on activation of account for SEPA Direct Debit. The Client should have a euro current account.
- The Company applies for a SEPA Direct Debit service in its bank (the bank that offers such a service).
- The Company sends invoices to the SEB banka's Client in the manner agreed in the contract, which has an informative meaning.
- The Company's bank sends to SEB banka a request to debit the Client's account.
- SEB banka automatically makes payment of the invoice from the Client's euro account to the Company's account.
Client's advantages - convenient, safe and simple payment of invoices in Europe: - payment of invoices is carried out automatically on the day of payment indicated in the invoice;
- the settlements are always made on time – the beneficiary of payments receives the settlement amount on the due date;
- the payment for services is carried out in any European Union's member country, as well as in Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Monaco;
- payments are safe – you are entitled to a refund of payments within 8 weeks after making of payment without indicating any special reason to the bank.
